How Our Building Contributes to Our Sustainability

September 23, 2024

At Bennett Plastics, one of our primary goals is sustainability. Beyond our manufacturing initiatives to use eco-friendly materials, reduce waste, and recycle whenever possible, we also strive to incorporate sustainable features in our building and facilities.

Why Is Sustainability Important?

To be sustainable, at its simplest, is to use resources in the present in ways and degrees that won't harm future generations from also doing so. How could we not want to protect the safety and prosperity of our children, grandchildren, and generations to come? We support this philosophy in our manufacturing options by being experts at using eco-friendly plastics such as biodegradable and compostable materials and recycled plastics. We have also developed manufacturing processes that minimize waste and embrace recycling whenever possible, from design to production, and to fulfillment.

Sustainability and Our Building

Using eco-friendly materials and processes isn't enough for us, though, so we've worked to make our entire facility increasingly sustainable.

LED Lighting

Using LED lighting is a smart practice in countless ways.

  • Lifespan - LED bulbs have the longest current lifespan, so we use fewer bulbs overall.
  • Low Energy Consumption - LED bulbs are the most efficient bulbs available, so the energy used to light our facilities (which can be up to 40% of electric costs!) is minimized.
  • Cool Lighting - LED bulbs produce the least heat, meaning we spend less on cooling in the summer.

Rainwater Recycling

We collect rainwater for our cooling tower (a system that keeps parts of our machinery at the appropriate temperature so that plastics melt at specified rates and keeps machine oils at safe temperatures). Our recycled rainwater also works to cool molds so that injected plastic parts can be removed from them. A cooling tower system can use tens of thousands of gallons of water a day, so recycling our water is the smart, environmentally friendly thing to do!

Recycling Plastic and Corrugated Packaging

For a plastics company, recycling our plastic scraps is a no-brainer. With careful quality checks, we recycle our plastic waste materials. Corrugated cardboard materials used in packaging are also on our recycling list.

Efficient Equipment and Systems

Throughout our facilities, we've made the choice to have the most efficient equipment possible. Our entire process, from design through production and to warehousing happens on-site. That means we're not wasting resources moving between facilities.

At Bennett Plastics, we want to make the parts you need in the most sustainable way possible. Contact us today to see how we can make that happen for you.
